Yufei Heavy-duty Trailer Launched, Technology Empowers

With the increasing volume of cross-regional transportation of bulk commodities such as coal and sand in China, the heavy-duty transportation industry is facing a triple dilemma: insufficient carrying capacity leads to low efficiency, excessive vehicle weight results in high fuel consumption, and complex road conditions pose significant safety risks. According to the “2025 China Heavy-Duty Transportation Development Report,” in the past three years, the transportation delay rate caused by insufficient trailer carrying capacity in the mining and infrastructure sectors reached 17%, while the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers of traditional heavy-duty trailers was 2.3 liters higher than the industry’s expected standard. Against this backdrop, Yufei Trailer, after two years of intensive research and development, recently officially launched a new generation of heavy-duty transport trailers. This series of products achieves a breakthrough in three core indicators: carrying capacity, safety, and energy efficiency, providing the bulk commodity transportation industry with an integrated solution that is “more efficient, safer, and more cost-effective.”
To overcome the technical bottleneck of traditional trailers, which are either “strong but heavy” or “light but weak,” Yufei Trailer established a specialized R&D team led by 15 senior engineers. They invested over 80 million yuan in R&D and collaborated with the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shandong University of Technology on research and development of lightweight materials. The new trailer ultimately adopts a composite structure of “high-manganese steel reinforced beams + aerospace-grade aluminum alloy body,” redesigning the stress distribution of the frame through topological optimization technology. This changes the traditional frame’s “uniform wall thickness” to “distribution based on need,” increasing the thickness by 3mm in critical load-bearing areas and reducing it by 1.5mm in non-load-bearing areas, achieving a precise balance between strength and weight. According to tests by a third-party authoritative institution, the static load limit of this series of trailers reaches 120 tons, a 30% improvement over the previous generation. At the same time, the overall vehicle weight is reduced by 1.2 tons. Based on the industry standard of “55 tons per trip” for bulk commodity transportation, each trip can carry an additional 1.2 tons of cargo. Assuming a profit of 50 yuan per ton of cargo and 300 trips per year, each trailer can generate an additional 18,000 yuan in revenue annually for logistics companies.
In terms of driving safety, the new trailer features a dual safety system of “active warning + passive protection.” Its intelligent tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) uses sensors imported from Continental AG of Germany, which can collect real-time tire pressure and temperature data for all 12 tires with an accuracy of ±0.01 MPa. When the tire pressure drops below 10% of the standard value, an audible and visual warning is issued through the LCD screen in the driver’s cab, and the data is simultaneously synchronized to the logistics company’s management backend, preventing tire blowout accidents caused by tire problems. The anti-rollover warning device calculates the rollover risk coefficient in real time through body center of gravity sensors and steering angle sensors. When the risk value exceeds the threshold while the vehicle is driving on curves or slopes, the system immediately triggers the braking assist function, increasing the wheel braking torque by 20%. In actual tests on winding mountain roads in mining areas, the rollover risk was reduced by 65%. For complex road conditions such as gravel roads in mines and muddy roads in infrastructure construction sites, the new trailer also features specialized upgrades to the suspension and braking systems—using a combination suspension of “multi-leaf steel springs + hydraulic shock absorbers,” reducing vibration amplitude on bumpy roads by 40%; the upgraded drum brakes use ceramic friction pads, improving thermal fade performance by 35%, and maintaining 92% of the initial braking efficiency after continuous downhill driving for 20 kilometers, far exceeding the industry average of 75%.
“Every improvement in this product stems from real customer feedback on their pain points,” said Engineer Li, head of R&D at Yufei Trailers, at the product launch. He explained that the R&D team spent three months conducting on-site research with logistics fleets on the Inner Mongolia-Ningxia coal transportation route and the Sichuan-Tibet infrastructure transportation route, collecting 23 specific problems such as “tire blowouts, weak braking under heavy loads on downhill slopes, and cargo shifting due to bumpy roads.” The technical upgrades of the new trailer are entirely focused on addressing these pain points. To verify product reliability, this series of trailers also completed 100,000 kilometers of extreme environment testing covering “high temperature, extreme cold, and high altitude”—driving continuously for 10,000 kilometers in the 45℃ high-temperature environment of Turpan, Xinjiang, without any brake fade; starting and braking normally after being parked for 12 hours in the -30℃ low-temperature environment of Mohe, Heilongjiang; and maintaining stable power transmission efficiency on mountain roads at an altitude of 4500 meters in Qinghai. Test data shows that the new trailer has a comprehensive fuel consumption of 38L per 100 kilometers, an 8% reduction compared to similar products in the industry. Based on a diesel price of 7 yuan/L, this translates to an annual fuel cost saving of 174,000 yuan for 80,000 kilometers of operation.
Even before its official release, the product has already received positive market feedback. As early as June 2025, a large coal logistics company in Inner Mongolia began testing 20 of the new trailers. Wang, the manager in charge, stated, “Our transportation routes mostly consist of gravel roads in mining areas. Previously, our trailers required replacing the leaf springs every three months on average. Now, these new trailers have been running for five months, and the suspension system hasn’t shown any problems. Furthermore, our monthly fuel costs are nearly 12,000 yuan less than before.” According to statistics from Yufeng Trailer’s sales department, by the product launch date, the company had already received bulk orders from Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Xinjiang, and other regions, totaling 320 units with a contract value exceeding 160 million yuan.
Regarding future development plans, Mr. Zhang, General Manager of Yufei Trailer, stated that the company will further expand its technological capabilities based on its new heavy-duty trailers: in 2026, it will launch the research and development of intelligent connected trailers, realizing functions such as “remote fault diagnosis and automatic route optimization”; in 2027, it plans to introduce a hybrid trailer with hydrogen energy auxiliary power, aiming to reduce fuel consumption by another 15%. “We firmly believe that only technological innovation focused on customer needs can truly promote the high-quality development of the logistics industry,” Mr. Zhang emphasized. He added that Yufei Trailer will continue to maintain R&D investment of no less than 6% of its annual revenue over the next three years to create more competitive heavy-duty transportation equipment.
